Alex, born in Poland, was separated from her family at the age of 12. The Russians took her to Siberia, where she survived 3 years in a labor camp. She studied English and graduated high school. She immigrated to England where she met Stanley. They married and together immigrated to the U.S. They came with very little and built a good life through hard work and sacrifice.
Alex is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara (Michalkiewicz) Perzan and her fiancé Leigh Burkhardt. She was “Babci” to Gregory Perzan and his wife Sabrina and Rachel (Perzan) Thibodeau and her husband, Steve. She was blessed with five great- grandchildren – Lleyton, Zachary and Benjamin Thibodeau and Maya and Kyle Perzan.
Alex worked as a store clerk at Sussman’s and retired from IGA at the age of 72. She was a fabulous cook, very well known for her pierogi! She and Stanley loved to travel, especially to their favorite place – Hawaii.
Special thanks go out to Middlewoods of Newington, where Alex resided her last two years.
