She was born on July 16, 1920 in Solarino, Sicily to Angelo and Natala (Calafiore) Palumbo. Angela immigrated to the United States with her family in 1956 and worked at the Fafnir Bearing Co. as a machine operator for 23 years while living in Plainville. Fiercely independent, she lived her life on her own terms to the very end. A very giving person, possessing an iron memory, never failed to contact relatives and friends both here and in Italy for any special occasion. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking but the center of her life was her family to whom she was totally devoted. She was affectionately known as “Nonna” by her grandchildren and their friends and “ Nonna 2” by her great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Josephine Burgio and husband Joseph, her son Turi and wife Carmen, 4 grandchildren: Marco Burgio, Sabrina Cluba, Brittany Lonero and Nicole Lonero, 3 great grandchildren: Torah’Yah and Binah Cluba and Oliver Burgio, 2 nieces, a grandnephew and many friends both here and in Italy. She was predeceased by a brother Turi, two sisters: Irene (Suor Gradita) and Bianca, and a nephew (Turi) all of Italy.
