Anne R Donovan

Anne R. Donovan, of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away on July 31st, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Feore) and Edward Donovan. She graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford where she was vice president of her graduating class. She earned her Master’s degree and her Sixth-Year Certificate from Central Connecticut State University. Anne spent her teaching career in the Rocky Hill's School System. During her tenure, she was Rocky Hill’s Teacher of the Year and served as Head Teacher and Acting Principal of Myrtle H. Stevens Elementary School. Following her retirement from the Rocky Hill School System, she remained an educator working for the department of education at Saint Joseph College and as a Supervisor of Student Teachers at the University of Hartford.

Anne had a special love of the ocean and she treasured her many summers spent on Cape Cod. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her "little cottage on the cove". Her travels included trips to Europe and in recent years, a family trip to Ireland and a trip to Paris, her favorite city. Anne is survived by her cousins John R. Feore, Jr. and wife Janie of McLean, Virginia; Carole Spinelli and husband Anthony of New York City; a goddaughter Megan Giusani and husband Michael of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Glastonbury; Diane Donovan of Virginia and her children Shannon (Virginia) and Alisa (Maryland).

A visitation will be held on Monday August 28, 2023 from 4PM to 6PM. A brief gathering before mass on Tuesday August 29, 2023 from 9AM to 9:30 AM at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday August at 10AM at Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church Street, Newington. Interment services will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery at 11AM
