Anthony J. Carubba, 96, of New Britain, husband of the late Dorothy (Janick) Carubba, passed away on April 10, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Anthony was born on November 11, 1924 in New Britain, CT to his parents Carl and Antoinette (Alagna) Carubba. Tony was a devoted husband, father and worked hard during his lifetime starting at age 14 removing trash with his Uncle. He attended trade school and began his career as a machinist. His last employment was with Whitnon Spindle as machine shop supervisor, retiring after 40 years. In his earlier years, Tony enjoyed growing a garden, hunting and fishing, trips to Vermont, Las Vegas Aruba, and watching the UCONN Woman's basketball games. Most of all he cherished time with his family and engaging with other people. He was a member of the Newington Senior Center where he went to have lunch with new friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and love of his life Dorothy to whom he was married for 71 years. A brother Sam Carubba, sister Rose Phoenix and her husband Whitey, along with many other relatives, friends, and his beloved cat Lucy. Tony is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Charlene Gordon and her husband Stephen, Grandchildren Shelley Lavigne and her husband Jason, Scott Gordon and his partner Robert Moller, Great grandchildren Amber, Dylan, Nick and Ava. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and his cats Emily and Sherman. A period of visitation will be held at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00pm. A brief period of visitation on Monday, April 19, 2021 at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow, celebrated at St. Ann's Church, 47 Clark St, New Britain, CT at 11:00am.
