Anthony J Vesci Sr

Anthony (Tony) J. Vesci Sr., aka "Smiley”, 84 of New Britain, CT, beloved husband of Dorothy (Kenna) Vesci, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2011 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain surrounded by his wife, and family. He was born in New Britain on September 16, 1926 to the late Constantine and Mary Vesci. Besides his wife of 58 years he leaves three sons, Anthony Vesci Jr. and his partner Carol Keyes; James Vesci and his wife Josie; and Gary Vesci and his partner Kirk Williams. He leaves four beloved grandchildren who where his pride and joy, Kevin Vesci; Kristen Vesci; Zachary Vesci-Williams, and Xavier Vesci-Williams. He leaves his brother, Frank Vesci and his wife, Sue; a sister in law, Florence Lewis, his best friends, Rose and Joe Taricani, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his grand dogs, Buster, Bikee, Ryder and Tattoo. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Vesci and a sister Teresa Vesci.

Tony was a long time Basketball Coach at St. Ann’s CYO at St. Ann Jr. High School. He was employed at Guida’s Seibert Dairy for 32 years retiring in 1989. Tony enjoyed sports (Yankees, Celtics and the Giants), playing cards with his monthly group, and his trips to the casino, but most of all he enjoyed being with his beloved family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 9:00am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00am at St. Ann Church. Burial will be St. Mary Cemetery, in New Britain. Calling hours will be on Monday, January 17th from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the New Britain Memorial –Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Directions: Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right.
