Carmelo J. Russo, passed away on December 25, 2018 peacefully in his home with his wife and children by his side. He is survived by his wife, Josephine of 65 yrs., and his children; Michael Russo (Marcia), Luann Byman (Troas), Sandra Russo and Diane DeStefano (Richard). In addition he leaves 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Serafina Tamaro and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Thomas & Pearl Cavanaugh and Leo & Mary Truncalli. Carmelo J. Russo was born in Hartford, CT. He worked for the first 15 yrs with Gianni Construction Company, he then worked at Prudential Insurance Co. until his retirement after 27 years. He loved sports, especially horse racing and was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. He loved being around family and friends; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His generous spirit extended not only to family and friends, but also to many charities he held dear to his heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours are on Friday, Dec. 28th, from 5-8PM at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Church services are on Saturday, Dec. 29th, at 10AM at the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main Street, Farmington. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
