Caroline E. (Chikar) Baxer, 95, widow of Anthony F. Baxer, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Caroline was born in New Britain, was daughter to the late Imre and Katalin Cvsikar and had worked last at the New Britain Bank and Trust. She was a member of St. Jerome Church and the Lithuanian Club.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her four children: Robert Baxer and wife Joan of Ramsey, NJ, Jane Holschlag and husband David of Bristol, Kathryn Eden and husband Robert of Barrington, RI and Carol Baxer of Long Beach, CA, a sister, Matilda Barlow of Little Rock, Ak., a brother George Chikar of New Britain, her precious ten grandchildren who were her pride and joy; Sara, Daniel and Brian Baxer, Christine and her husband Ben Daniels, Matthew and John Holschlag, Jonathan, Michael, Alexander and Elizabeth Eden, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister Grace Toth.
She was an independent woman long before woman's independence was fashionable. She taught us self-sufficiency, self- advocacy, determination and compassion. She was an inspiration to all that met her. She will be missed. An avid reader who also enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She will live on in her children and their children and that independent spirit is evidenced in both generations and will continue to live on. God Bless you mom, rest in peace.We love you.
Funeral services will begin Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10:00am from New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:00am in St. Jerome Church, with burial concluding in St. Mary Cemetery, all in New Britain, CT. Visitation time will be held Thursday, May 2, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home.
