Catherine S. Vieira

Catherine S. Vieira 94,wife of the late Albert A. Vieira, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 22, 1932 in New Britain a daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (Green) Smith. Catherine worked Central CT State University as a housekeeper and proudly became the first female building supervisor retiring in 1994. She was a faithful member, usher and deaconess of the Spottswood AME Zion Church, New Britain. Family and friends called her a fashionista.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah Vieira of Newington, her son Albert J.(Kelley) Vieira of East Hampton, her grandchildren, Amber (Tyrus) Shumate of Newington, Shayna (Joshua) Stedford of Newington and Autumn Vieira of Newington, one great-granddaughter Asha Parmlee as well many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is predeceased by a son Dana Vieira and his wife Shauni, three sisters; Mary Frances Green, Rose Hill, Mary Ann Wrice.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10-11am at Spottswood AME Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain, CT. followed by her funeral service from 11am-12noon. Burial will follow next her husband at Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.
