David Solomon, 90, New Britain, transitioned from the temporal to the eternal June 6, 2021 following a gallant battle with prostate cancer. In the weeks leading up to his passing, he was surrounded by love receiving hospice care at the home shared with his youngest daughter.
David is survived by his beloved wife, two sons, two daughters, a daughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two affectionate felines. He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.
Upon his honorable discharge from the US Army, he learned the enameling craft and subsequently opened an enameling shop in New York City where he employed a dozen workers. Decades later he returned to school earning three undergraduate and one graduate degrees and a teacher’s certification. David taught algebra and Spanish in high schools and Spanish at Eastern CT State University and University of Connecticut.
David, a trilingual academic and lifelong learner, was a published essayist, composer of classical music, and lyrical poet. His smile, his laugh, his wisdom, his love, and his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those who were blessed to know and love him.
