

Donald was proud of his Italian heritage, and was the son of the deceased Natalie C. and Louis A. Scarfo.
Donald was a New Britain native and former resident. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Parish. In addition, he was a graduate of Saint Joseph’s School, New Britain High School, E. C. Goodwin Technical School, and the University of Hartford. He was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp. (Semper Fidelis)
Mr. Scarfo held various executive positions in the states of California, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Donald enjoyed his family and a special group of friends, especially Donald Rizzo. He particularly loved the Soundview Beach in Old Lyme, Connecticut, his beach friends and crabbing along the Connecticut shore. At home he was an avid gardener and loved to play his accordion and piano. He had the gift of playing music without the sheet notes, simply by memory. Donald not only had a gift for playing music but a skill for dancing to the beat. A member of the National Rifleman Association, he enjoyed hunting various game. He will be loved and remembered forever for his humor, intelligence, wit and zest for life.
Besides his beloved companion and love of many years, Genevieve Barile, he leaves two sons, Michael Scarfo and his wife, Mary Scarfo, and Gunnery Sergeant Craig Scarfo, USMC and his wife, Michelle Scarfo. He also leaves his four special grandchildren; Michael and Mary’s two sons Evan Scarfo and Colin Scarfo, and Craig and Michelle’s daughters Ashley Scarfo and Shelby Scarfo. Donald was the eldest of four children. He is survived by two sisters, Irene M. DiPace and Caroljoyce M. Cannito and a brother, Louis J. Scarfo and sister-in-law Mary Ann Scarfo. He leaves his beloved cousins, Dominic Scarfo and Christopher Scarfo, and their families, as well as nieces, nephews and numerous other family members and friends.
His family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Ceplenski and Dr. Roman J. Fedorciw and their staff for the many years of their expert and attentive care to Donald.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 24, 2015, 9AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial 10AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 195 South Main St, and burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday October 23, 2015 from 4-7PM.
