Edward J. Berlinski, 80, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018 after a long illness. He is survived by, Dorothy, his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, and will be dearly missed by his children: Michael Berlinski, Diane Lemelin and her husband Martin and Kristin Dederer and her husband Vince.
He was predeceased by his son Edward G. Berlinski, PhD, in 2009. In addition, he was predeceased by his infant sister in 1937 and is survived by his sister Ginny Viarengo and her husband Bob; his brother Frank and his wife Pat; his Godchildren Patti Viarengo, Christopher Berlinski and Christopher Freeman, daughter-in-law, Lucretia Berlinski and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friends Dennis Horvath & Steve Richter. He was also predeceased by his parents Stanley and Aniela (Goniwiecha) Wojtyczka and stepfather Frank Berlinski.
He was born in Katowice, Poland and came to America in 1947.
He proudly served during the Vietnam War Era in the Air Force. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Masters Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He retired from the manufacturing field as a Quality Control Engineer. Ed loved to write and was the author of five published fiction and science fiction books. He also loved reading, gardening, music, and photography.
A heartfelt thanks to the hospice staff: his nurse Kim, his social worker Karen, his music therapist Cecelia and the entire staff at Amberwoods.
A time of visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 8-9am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 10AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 145 Main Street, Unionville. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
