I met Elijah in 1st grade. As I worked with a special needs student, he always wanted to help out. He was a small student, smaller than the rest but he had the biggest smile! I love his smile! He always had something nice to say about another student during our "compliment circle" and he was always sincere when saying it.

I also spent time with Elijah after school. If he saw me in the front yard, he would come over to chat and to pet my dogs (4 poodles). I remember his mom one day saying that if he was a bother to let her know and send him home...he was never a bother. He always brightened up my day. I loved having him as a neighbor.

We moved and lost touch but Elijah always crossed my mind. He is the type of kid that leaves a mark on your soul to smile more, to care more, to love more. Elijah forever you will be remembered as a Little kid but with a BIG heart!

You were a force. A presence. A boy full of spunk. And a hero. You will never be forgotten, but rather remembered with a smile. Rest in heavenly peace, Elijah.
