

Emily (Sobczak) DiBenedetto, 89, of New Britain, passed away on February 11, 2017 at Touchpoints of Farmington after a brief illness, with her family by her side. Emily was born on August 30, 1927 in New Britain to Piotr and Bertha Sobczak, also residing in New Britain and attending local schools. Emily was employed by Stanley Tools, retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong resident of New Britain, until moving to Plainville with her daughter this past year. She was a parishioner of St John the Evangelist Church in New Britain. An avid UCONN Husky basketball & Red Sox fan, she spent much of her time watching the games. She also loved watching the Golden Girls.
She will be most remembered for her love of her family. She was the widow of Peter DiBenedetto and is survived and will be missed by, her daughter; Joyce Ouellette and her husband Andre, of Plainville; her son Paul DiBenedetto and his wife Donna of Newington; and her son Peter DiBenedetto and his wife Maryann of Newington; and her grandchildren, Michelle Callahan, Daniel Ouellette, Amanda DiBenedetto and Rachel Ouellette and her new great granddaughter Cecilia Mary Callahan.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017 from 8:00-9:30am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by her funeral liturgy at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
