“Emmochka, my dear, my beloved!
To me, you were both a sister and a mother.
Without you, and without the unique high school club you created, I would not have become who I am.
And that not me would have been far worse than what actually came to be.
Since 8th grade, my whole life has been beside you — in school, at the university, and afterward — all my life.
Every one of my visits to the U.S. began with you.
You and your family were my life.
In fact, that was life itself.
Thank you for being in it — in my life!!!
I am devastated.
But love is eternal!
And that gives me the feeling of you.
It allows me to go on living.
Rest peacefully.
May the earth lie lightly upon you.
Yours, Igor.
