Eugenia Barczak, 89, of Kensington, entered into eternal life on Friday, July 18, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 12, 1924 in a small village near Lublin in Poland. Eugenia and her younger sister, Stasia, grew up during the challenging times of World War II.
Eugenia was predeceased by her husband, Boleslaw Barczak. They were both hardworking people dedicated to their farm. When her husband passed, Eugenia moved to Gizycko, Poland, to live with her son, Jan, and family.
In 1997, Eugenia emigrated to the United States to live with her son, Jan, daughter-in-law, Barbara, and her grandchildren. While transitioning to her new life in the US, Eugenia created many friendships with her neighbors. She enjoyed playing an evening card game for some laughs.
Eugenia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was often found in the kitchen making her specialty soups, but always took the time to listen. She was truly devoted to her family as well as her faith.
Eugenia is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Barbara Barczak, of Kensington; her grandson Rafal Barczak, MD, his wife Sara, and their children Matthew and Andrew, of West Hartford; her granddaughter Katarzyna Noonan, her husband Brendan, and their son Devyn, of Ridgefield; and her stepson Henryk Barczak, his wife Leonarda, and their children Dorota and Maciej, of Poland.
A special thank you to all the nurses, aides, and staff at Aurora Nursing Home, especially Unit 3, where Eugenia received exceptional care during her last few months.
