Born on March 2, 1952, Fausto’s journey was defined by a tireless work ethic and a heart that knew no bounds. He immigrated to the United States in 1979, building a life rooted in service and community.
Early in his career, he worked as a salesman for Gestetner, but many will remember him best as the owner and operator of Ice Cream Churn in Bristol, which he opened in 1990. After a long and successful career, he retired in 2016 to spend more time on the passions that truly fueled him.
A man of many talents, Fausto was a "jack of all trades." Whether he was meticulously woodworking, tending to his exotic plants and garden, out in the field hunting and fishing, he found joy in the work of his hands. He possessed a legendary story telling ability, a sense of humor, and a spirit of generosity; he was the first person to jump in and help a neighbor, friend, or stranger with a repair or a project, never asking for anything in return.
Fausto was devoted to his three great loves: his wife, his family, and fishing. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with the people he loved, share a story, lend a hand, or find peace by the water. Above all, Fausto will be remembered for the way he made people feel — welcomed, helped, entertained, and loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lucia Barbagallo Palazzetti; his sons, Fausto Nello Palazzetti and his wife Caitlin Nguyen, and Alessandro Palazzetti and his wife Laura Palazzetti; and his cherished granddaughters, Annabella and Serafina. He also leaves behind his sisters, Oliviana Latini and Marina Cassini; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Salvatore and Robin Barbagallo, Lina and James Gentile, Mary Barbagallo, and Bernardette Barbagallo; and a large, loving extended family across the United States and Italy. He was predeceased by his sister, Elena.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home Friday May 1, 2026 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Church in New Britain on Friday May 1, 2026 at 12PM, followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Fausto’s memory to ZERO Prostate Cancer (zerocancer.org) or the Prostate Cancer Foundation (pcf.org), to help continue the fight against the disease he faced with such courage and strength.
