Gene J. Mancini, 96, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on December 19th surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of 71 years to Adele (Devoti) Mancini. He was the son of the late John and Josephine (Dagata) Mancini. He was a kind, generous, gregarious man with a keen wit and a great love for his family and friends. Gene graduated from New Britain High School and attended the Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He worked in the finance department of the former New Britain
Machine Company, retiring in 1981. Gene was a man of many interests. He loved to play cards, and especially loved sports; he was an avid golfer, and a Red Sox and Huskies fan. In addition to being a faithful attendee at New Britain High School football games for many years, he seldom missed any of his grandchildrenʼs games as they were growing up. He was a proud charter member of Saint Jerome Church where he was an active paricipant in many ways. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, Gene is survived by two daughters: Eleanor Vendetti and her husband, James, of Farmington; and Joan Noyes of Southington. He also leaves his grandchildren and their spouses: Marc and Jennifer Vendetti of Avon, Janice Vendetti and Bonnie McRee of West Hartford, Roxanne and Joshua Frenette of West Hartland, Michael Vendetti of Newington, and Susan and Jason Koski of Wethersfield. In addition, he leaves his great-grandchildren: Joey, Maya, Sofia, and Joshua Frenette; Mia, Jimmy, and Jack Vendetti; and Kai and Claire Vendetti; his large extended family, and his many friends. Besides his parents, Gene was predeceased by his siblings: Cosmo Mancini, Rose Buccheri, and Nicholas Mancini; his son-in-law, Pete Noyes; and a great-grandchild, James Frenette.
