Gertruda Kowalczyk

She was born in Poland and has lived in New Britain for over 50 years; she was a member of Sacred Heart Church and retired from Atlantic Machine Co. She was a loving mother and grandmother, she loved gardening and cooking special meals for her family, her greatest joy was taking care of her family.

She was the widow of Stanislaw Kowalczyk and is survived by her devoted children, four sons and two daughters with their families, Irene and Jozef Gorski of Plainville; John Kowalczyk of New Britain; Joseph and Albina Kowalczyk of Kensington; Richard and Mary-Beth Kowalczyk of Topsham, Maine; George Kowalczyk on New Britain, Teresa and Terry Glazier of East Haddam. She leaves 11 beloved grandchildren, who where her pride and joy, Chester Gorski and Dorothy Chippo; Coleen Kusmierski; Michael Kowalczyk; JoAnne Libano; Kerry, Kaylee and Keith Kowalczyk; Elizabeth Corey; Joshua Lonero and Kayla Parent. She also leaves three beloved great grandchildren, Halie; Alex and Avery. She is also survived by two sisters, Regina Walas of Plainville and Maria Celi of Poland, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 3 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.(directions: Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right.) Funeral services will be on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 8:30 am at the funeral home and 9:30 am the Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
