He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and was son to the late Jose and Caroline Sanchez Santiago. A loving and gentle man, he will be remembered for is big heart and always seen walking around town.
In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years, Lubelia, he is also survived and will be dearly missed by his two sons: Gilbert Santiago and Eduardo Santiago of New Britain, his two precious grandchildren; Mia Palaia Santiago of New Britain and David Emanuel Santiago of West Hartford, two sisters in Puerto Rico and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by three brothers.
Gilberto's Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 from 6-8pm at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington AVe., New Britain with a Prayer Service at 7:45pm. Burial with committal prayers will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at 1:00pm in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.
