

He was born in Priolo, Siracusa, Sicily, It and was the son of the late Sebastiano and Giuseppa (Mignosa) Scalora. He served in the Italian Army and immigrated to USA 1955 settling in Oakfield, NY, moving to New Britain in 1955. He was a member of St. Ann Church, life time member of the General Ameglio Society where he served as Chairman of the House Committee for many years; he was also a member of Angelo Custrode Priolesi Club. He retired from Fafnir Bearing Co. after 30 years of service in 1987.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved helping out in the organizations he belonged to, but his greatest pleasure was being with his family; he will be dearly missed by all of them. In his pastime he enjoyed his garden, playing cards and bocci ball. He was a loyal and dear friend to many who will miss his friendship.
He is survived by his wife, Carmela (Gionfriddo) Scalora and his devoted daughter and son- in- law, Josephine and Angelo Corallo with whom he made his home. He also leaves a step-daughter, Lucia Lorenzo and son-in-law, Serafino Lorenzo in Italy. He leaves three beloved grandchildren who where his pride and joy, Marisa and Giuseppe Corallo and Carmelo Lorenzo and his wife, Francesca.
He leaves four sisters with their spouses, Lucia and Nunzio Trovato of New Britain; Olga and Angelo Saraceno of Berlin; Yolanda and Bruno Ciccio of Berlin; Rose and Salvatore Marino of New Britain; a sister- in- law, Giovanna Scalora and several nieces and nephews and his beloved bird Paulie. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
The Funeral service will be Monday, April 26, 2010 at 9:00 AM the New Britain Memorial & Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain (directions: I-84, right off #37, 1 ½ miles on right) followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church. Burial follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
