Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Palmer) Sandelli

Gwendolyn “Gwen” (Palmer) Sandelli, 86 of New Britain died peacefully at home on Monday, December 20, 2010. She was the beloved wife of 55 years of the late Joseph Sandelli who died in 2004. She was born in Willimantic, CT and has lived in New Britain for most of her life. Gwen with her husband Joe was the owner and operator of the Lorenzen Florist for over 50 years, retiring in 2002. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Church and the UNICO Club, and with her husband Joe she was active in many other civic organizations. Gwen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she had a warm smile and kind word for everyone she meets. She was hardworking, kind and gentle women and her presence will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved children with their families Gregory J. Sandelli and his wife, Kathy of Rocky Hill.; Linda Farrelly and her husband, Tom of Southington. She leaves five loving grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Christopher and Kevin Farrelly, Amy Tesz and her husband, Greg; Eileen and Meghan Sandelli and her two precious great grandchildren, Lily and William Tesz. She is also survived by her sister, Muriel Therrien of Vernon, a brother Charles Veci of East Hartford, her sisters in law Gloria Hannon, Marie and Janet Sandelli and brother in law Valentine Crescintini, and several nieces and nephews. Gwen’s family would like to extend a special thanks to their caregiver Roza Sargsyan for her tender and loving care.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 9:00 am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Ann Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in New Britain. Calling hours will be at the New Britain Memorial –Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
