Helen Brochu passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 21, 2026 at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor after a long illness. Born in New Britain on May 24, 1926, she was the second daughter of the late Kazimierz and Mary (Dulka) Abucewicz. Helen graduated from New Britain High School in 1944 and went to work at Landers, Frary, and Clark as a sales statistical clerk. Later she worked in the New Britain Tax Collection Office and did secretarial clerical work for the CT State Employment Service.
In her youth, she enjoyed going to local dances and taking an occasional winter vacation trip to Miami Beach. Helen had a pleasant, easy-going personality, laughed readily, made friends easily, and always had a smile for friends. She liked relaxing on a sandy beach with friends and had a special fondness for teddy bears, cows, and the music of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
Helen is survived by her devoted nephew Richard Tereba and was predeceased by her sister Mildred Tereba, brother-in-law Edward Tereba, and nephew Brian Tereba.
