Helen Lagosz

Helen Lagosz, 93, of New Britain, CT, peacefully passed away in the early hours of November 29, 2023, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. She was born on April 19, 1930, in Poland and immigrated to New Britain in 1962, where she worked at Atlantic Aerospace for 25 years.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Cross Church for over five decades. There, she was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and made lasting friendships, exchanging prayer cards even when she was no longer able to attend Sunday Mass.

Helen enjoyed playing cards; she was especially good at Rummy. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling to various holy sites, her favorite being the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Helen leaves behind her son Frank Lagosz and his wife, Barbara, and her son Marian Lagosz. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Janina Lagosz, and Janina’s son and his family. Additionally, she leaves behind two granddaughters, Jessica Dowd and her husband Michael Dowd, and Catherine Ashton and her husband Jason Ashton. Helen recently became a great grandmother and leaves behind her great-grandson, Julian Dowd. She is also survived by many cousins and extended relatives.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Franciszek Lagosz Sr., her son Walter Lagosz, and her daughter-in-law, Laura Lagosz.

Calling hours for Helen will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. A brief gathering prior to church will occur Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 31 Biruta St, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. Committal Service will occur Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St, New Britain, Connecticut 06053.
