

Henry S. Mitchell, of Farmington, beloved husband of Dorothy (Salamon) Mitchell died peacefully on February 28, 2013. He was born in New Britain, a son of the late Roman and Petronella (Radziewicz) Mieczkowski. Henry was a graduate of the University of Hartford and a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne Division having served as a Paratrooper in Sapporo, Japan during World War II. Henry spent most of his professional career in the gold and precious metals industry with the J. M. Ney Company. After retiring from the private sector, he had a "second career" with the State of Connecticut Comptroller's Office. Henry was predeceased by his brother Stanley Mieckowski and many friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn Mitchell, of West Hartford, CT, son and daughter-in-law, David and Julia Mitchell of Midland, TX, and nephew and wife, Stanley and Susan Miekowski of Oak Ridge, New Jersey. The family would like to thank the staff at Arden Courts of Farmington, CT for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be Monday March 4th at 9AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Church of Saint Patrick, 110 Main St, in Farmington. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 3-6PM.
