

Janina (Olszewska) Prokop, 97, of New Britain, passed away on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor. Born in North Hampton, MA, daughter of the late Stanislaw and Amelia (Targonska) Olszewksi, and wife of the late Boleslaw Prokop. She emigrated to Poland with her family as an infant, returning to the United States with her husband and children in 1960. Janina made New Britain her home for the past 55 years and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Teddy Prokop and his wife Jane of New Britain, Matt Prokop and his wife Elizabeth, also of New Britain, and a daughter, Jane Grezlik and her husband Tadeusz of Southington. Her seven grandchildren, whom she was instrumental in raising, Jack Prokop, Edward Prokop and his wife Kim, Henry Prokop and his wife Alicia, Richard Prokop and his wife Jessica, Deborah Albuquerque and her husband Luis, Richard Prokop and his wife Jessica, David Grezlik and his wife Cheryl and Dorothy Selander and her husband Martin, thirteen great-grandchildren, Victoria, Alyssa, Samuel, Angela, Alexander, Christian, Isabella, Ava, Jaxson, Noah, Cory, Josephine , Joshua and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two infant children, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, at 8:30, from the New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 9:30, at Sacred Heart Church. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7pm, on Thursday, at the Funeral Home. Janina’s family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Zebrowski, and the staff at the Monsignor Bojnowski Manor, for the care and compassion they gave her.
