Jerzy Szpryngel, age 80, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. Jerzy was born on January 2, 1939 in Warsaw, Poland to the late Wieslaw and Janina (Muszynska) Szpryngel. He was a child survivor of WWII, where he witnessed many bomb attacks on his city. Jerzy will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of animals, music, long hearty laughs and dancing the night way to his favorite big band music. He was the life of the party. In his early years, he was a movie editor at the “Kino” Theater in Warsaw, Poland. He spent his free time with his nephew Andziej Kuczabowski, fishing the Wisla River and watching his hometown futbol team practice and play. He came to the United States in 1963 to be with Janina (Kaczalska) Szpryngel, to whom he was married to for 47 years. He worked over 30 years at Textron in Newington before retiring to care for his wife. Jerzy is survived by his two children; Lisa, her husband Jeff Rados and their son Matthew of Rocky Hill who he resided with and Christopher and his wife Lisa of Waterbury and their children Eric, Marialaina, Michael and several nieces and nephews here and in Poland. His pride and joy were his grandchildren as well as his dog “Buddy”.
