Jozef Downarski, 86 of New Britain died on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 with his beloved family by his side. He was born in Poland and has lived in New Britain for the last 8 years, and was the widower of Helena (Gardocka) Downarska. He is survived by his devoted daughter and son in law, Jadwiga and Czeslaw Karwowski with whom he made his home. He is also survived by six beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Marzena and Wieslaw Zalewski; Kazimirez and Dorothy Karwowski; Anna and Slawomir Zarzecki; Dorota and John Szlejter; Beata and Karol Kurkowski; Katarzyna and Artur Brzezicki; he leaves 10 loving great grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Funeral service will be Friday February 18, 2011 at 8:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial &Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain (directions: I-84, right off #37, 1 ½ miles on right) followed by a funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be today, February 17th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
