Kenneth C. Bengston, 74, beloved husband of Caroline (Zmenyak) Bengston, of Middletown, passed away on Sunday, Sept.1, 2019. Ken was born in New Britain and was son to the late Carl and Helen (Kendall) Bengston. Ken proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Ken started his career with the City of New Britain many years ago which included working on the Tree Crew and Parks and Recreation Dept. He so ‘loved’ the parks he had cared for: Walnut Hill Park and Martha Hart Park., and then retired from the City of New Britain, Parks and Recreation Dept. Since Ken's childhood he was an avid Red Sox fan, playing on the Farm Team and Little League. He played in high school advancing to semi-pro in the U.S. Navy. Ken's true passions were fishing and vegetable gardening. He surf casted the shore of R.I. and Cape Cod, along with bass fishing in CT. Let's not forget, ice fishing on Lake Champlain, while visiting his sister Kendal and brother-in-law Mike, also a fisherman. Ken was also a Master Gardener, earning his certificate from U-Conn, he had the best tomatoes in town. He earned the name 'The Campbell Kid', a true outdoorsman indeed! His sweet smile and sense of humor will be truly missed by many. Always in my heart, "Love You BOBO", your devoted loving wife, Caroline & fur baby, Sully - XXO In addition to his devoted wife, of almost 50 years, Caroline, he will be dearly missed by his sisters; Kendal Stone and her husband Michael, of Maryland and their children and Karen LaPeruta of Plainville.
