

Kenneth Maurice Hawley, Sr., 49, beloved husband of Wanda Deveaux Hawley for 28 years, took his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 8th, 2015, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Kenneth was born in Hartford, CT. and was a longtime New Britain resident. He was raised by his parents, James and Margaret Hawley Mason – who preceded him in death. Kenneth proudly served in the US Armed Forces after graduating from Prince Technical High School. After serving, he attended Springfield College. He was employed by the Urban League of Greater Hartford, as a housing counselor. Kenneth enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He loved to laugh and he especially loved entertaining people. He seized every moment and was a risk-taker, if he believed it would make his dreams become a reality. Kenneth’s passions were acting, writing, reading, playing golf and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, he loved his family. In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his children: Kenneth, Jr., Mikhayla and Shyquan (Ashley); four grandchildren: Aneice, Aaniya, London and Shy’ann; father Kenneth Barnes; brothers: Eric Mason, Gerald Barnes, Kenneth Barnes and Carlton Barnes (deceased); sisters: Patricia Mason, Melanie Barnes, Shelly Barnes, April Barnes (deceased) and Ruthie Mason (deceased); father-in-law: Rev. Dr. Glenroy Deveaux (Miami, Florida); brothers-in-law: Glenn T. Deveaux and Timothy Deveaux (Elizabeth); sisters-in-law: Denice Rowe (Robert), Natasha Deveaux and Tamara Reynolds (Michael); the entire Hawley, Mason and Barnes family, along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, from 2 to 5pm on Sunday, July 19th, 2015. Homegoing services, followed by military honors, will take place on Monday, July 20th, 2015, 11am at St. James Missionary Baptist Church – Daly Avenue New Britain, CT. 06051.
