

Lena “Mickey” (Costanzo) Smith, 93, of Plantsville, formerly of New Britain, passed away peacefully, January 15, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pedivigliano, Provence of Cosenza, Italy a daughter of the late Nunzio and Carmela (Notarianni) Costanzo. She was employed as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her family and the time they spent together very much. Her beloved husband John Smith predeceased her in 2007. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Ann Perdion and her husband Thomas of Newington, Diane Kristoff of West Virginia and Laura Boggio and her husband Matt of Plantsville, her son Arthur Kristoff Jr. and his wife Pamela of Plainville, her brother Dominic Costanzo of New Britain, thirteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was pre-deceased by her son John Smith Jr. The family would like to thank the staff of Mulberry Gardens for their loving and tender care for the past two years. Funeral service will be Monday January 19th at 10AM at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2-5PM. Burial is private.
