Lisa Kiley, 66, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with her son, Daniel Kiley, by her side.
Born in Bristol, CT, on July 16, 1958, Lisa was the daughter of the late Matthew Shirley and Helene (Bourret) Shirley. She leaves behind her son, Daniel Kiley, and his wife, Christina Kiley, along with their two sons, Zachary and Nathan Kiley. She is also survived by her partner, Andy Wnek; her brother James and his wife, Lori Shirley; her brother Thomas and his wife, Debbie Shirley; sister-in-law Deena Shirley; and her aunts Judy and Jane and her uncle Claude and his wife, Keron Bourret. Lisa was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Edward and Melissa Shirley, Dylan and Jennifer Shirley, Branden and Samantha Fernandez, Michael Shirley, Tyler Shirley, and Erica Shirley. She also leaves behind her many cousins including Nanette Shirley and Karen Shirley along with several grandnieces and nephews, Waylon, Nasir and Dallas, Rosie, and Teagan.
Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Helene Shirley; her brother, Edward Shirley; her sister, Karen Shirley; and her uncles, Andre Bourret and Ray Shirley.
Lisa was the Incredible Memere who devoted her heart and soul to spoiling her cherished grandsons, Zach and Nathan. Whether it was playing, talking, or simply hanging out, she showered them with love, always creating special moments together. Incredible Memere was there for them every day by taking them to school, watching Nathan on the playground after school, and offering comfort when they were sick. She had a special way of helping them feel better with her "get well" treats, especially for Zach.
She delighted in surprising them, whether it was with a treat from the cookie jar, a new toy, or a seemingly endless pile of Christmas presents. She fully embraced her "soccer grandma" era, cheering Zach and Nathan on with cleats, soccer cards, jerseys, and plenty of love while they played. Above all, it was her unwavering love and devotion that made her such an Incredible Memere. Her grandsons were the light of her life, and the legacy of kindness, generosity, and warmth she instilled in them will continue to shine through them.
For many years, it was just Lisa and her son, Daniel, whom she lovingly called Danny. Their bond was unique and unbreakable, built on a foundation of love, trust, and mutual care. Together, they shared countless special memories, and through it all, they took care of one another in ways only they could. As Lisa’s only child, Danny was her greatest joy and source of pride. Their deep connection and unwavering support for each other were a testament to the strength of their relationship. When Danny’s wife, Christina, joined the family, Lisa embraced her as a daughter. The bond between Lisa and Christina grew stronger over the years, with Lisa always there for her in countless ways, offering love, encouragement, and guidance.
Lisa also shared her life with her long-time partner, Andy. Together, they shared their big hearts along with laughter and playful jokes. They spent countless hours cooking together and enjoyed time outdoors. Their time together was filled with a sense of ease, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. They valued their time together and created many treasured memories with their loved ones.
Lisa’s love, kindness, and boundless generosity will forever be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, especially her son, grandsons, and partner, who will carry her legacy of love and care with them always.
