Luddie Fort, 70, of New York, NY, beloved Aunt, and cousin, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday November 30th, 2021. Luddie was born on January 10th, 1951, in Pittsview, AL to the late Willis Fort Sr and Callie (Glenn) Fort. She was third youngest of 11 children. Luddie attended New Britain schools and then attended the University of Connecticut where she was the first member of her family to graduate from college. She worked for many years in the -insurance industry and retired from MetLife however Luddie will most be remembered for her commitment to her community and her passion for volunteer work. Luddie loved museums and reading and was a strict advocate on the importance of education. She also loved traveling, whether it be taking long train rides across the country, a quick trip to the casino or an evening stroll through her neighborhood. Luddie is survived by her two sisters Annie Fort of Virginia, and Sadie and her husband Freddie Williams of New Britain and an Aunt Clara Fort of Newington along with a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and two very special friends Penny Althea B Jones of New York, NY and Deborah Taylor of Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her brothers Willis Jr., Robert (Bob), Jackson, Elder (Tom) and her sisters Hattie, Nellie, Ruby and Leatrice. She will be laid to rest along with her oldest sister Leatrice on Saturday December 11th, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, Ct. with the Rev. Bishop Dale Shaw, Pastor, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, Ct. Relatives and friends may call at Sagarino Funeral Home Saturday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Flowers will be accepted at the Funeral home from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.
