Luis Sanchez, age 82, of Bridgeport, CT leaves his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Dalila Sanchez, to cherish his memories. Luis ascended peacefully on February 2, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 19, 1941 to the late Guillermo and Luz Maria Sanchez in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.
He shared a love for both the ocean and the sun, always seeking solace in his music and became a self-taught guitarist of the “cuatro”, the national instrument of Puerto Rico. Luis shared his peaceful spirit with all animals he encountered as he was often referred to as the “bird-man” for his calm and alluring demeanor in approaching his feathered friends, anyone could have felt his profound love for his fur babies, he was predeceased by Nico. Sweety and Oliver were by his side until his last breath.
Luis was a natural joker of the family who engaged in playing tricks whenever he had the opportunity. He was a strict yet loving father, a great provider, and proud man who enjoyed the quiet sanctuary he created in his home.
He graduated high school from Theodoro Aguilar Mora in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and was a retired baker of 15 years at Pepperidge Farm in Westport. CT and proudly served in the National Guards.
Luis was a loving father who taught through tough love to Luis Fernando Sanchez (Kimberly), Jerry Sanchez, Iristza Martinez Sat. He was a proud Grandfather to Justin Ryan Rivera, Za-Cheri Rivera, Luis John Sanchez (Sierra), Jerry Sanchez, Genesis Alondra Sanchez, and Adrian Andres Sanchez. He also was pre-deceased by Brianna Gisselle Sanchez. He was also a Great Grandfather to Abel Antonia Batista, and Malachi Axel Sanchez, as well as a new addition arriving soon.
He was a dear brother to Rafael, William, Carmen, Jose Manuel, David, and Maximino and pre-deceased by Juan, Jose Ramon, Maria A., and Jorge Andres. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
