Luisa S. Escudero

Luisa S. Escudero, 109, of New Britain passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 after a brief illness with family by her side. She was the wife of the late Julio H. Escudero and mother of six children. She is survived by Maria Elena Herrera of New Britain, German and Maria Escudero of New Britain, Yolanda and Jesus Gonzales of New Britain, Maria and Elard Arroyo of New Britain, and Jorge J. Escudero of New Britain. She is predeceased by her daughter Judith Escudero de Garcia of Arequipa, Peru. She leaves nine grandchildren: Larry Herrera, Brenda (Herrera) Soto, Jorge Garcia, Angelo Garcia, Maria del Pilar Escudero, German Escudero and Miluska Escudero-Smith, Lourdes (Arroyo) Beckner, and Vanessa Arroyo. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren: Stephanie (Herrera) Dudis, Clarissa Soto Josephs, Lawrence Herrera, Miguel Luis Soto, Ryan and Bryani Arroyo, Sara Maria and German Escudero; and two great-great-grandchildren: Dexter Camby and Charles Louis Josephs.

Luisa was the daughter of the late Carlos Soto and Candelaria Vargas de Soto. She was born in Arequipa, Peru. She graduated high school in Peru. Before settling in New Britain, Luisa first lived in New York. Mrs. Escudero was very hardworking throughout her life, always having multiple jobs to help her family emigrate from Peru. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary Church. She enjoyed cooking, embroidering, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She was the heart of her family.
