M. Hilda Dumond

She was born in Waterbury and was the daughter of the late Preston and Alfreda (Therrien) Plourde. Marie was raised in northern Maine and lived in New Britain for many years. She retired from Sears after 35 years of service and was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and its Ladies Guild.

A loving mother, grandmother and sister, her greatest joy was being with her family, our “Memere” will be dearly missed by her three daughters: Debbie Sailer and husband Chuck of East Hartford, Arlene Brownell of Unionville and Diane Shipley and husband David of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, her precious eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson, her brother Kenneth Plourde and wife, Virginia of Maryland and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at 9:30am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:30am in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be held Friday evening 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations in her memory may also be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT 06053.
