Maria (Cultrera) Bufalino, 92, passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2019. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily to the late Vincenzo Cultrera and Sebastiana Buccheri Cultrera. Maria came to the United States with her husband Vincenzo in 1961 to join her family and siblings and lived in New Britain with their children Maria, Nella and Paul. She was predeceased by her husband Vincenzo and her daughter Maria Paluso, as well as 3 brothers, Giuseppe, Carmelo and Salvatore Cultrera and two sisters, Sebastiana Mallia, and
Lucy Genovese. She is survived by her daughter Nella Fulco and husband Mark Fulco of Rocky Hill, son Paul Bufalino of Westbrook, son-in-law Thomas Paluso of Southington, and sister Beatrice Zappulla of Kensington. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Marc Paluso, Lauralea and her husband John Renehan, Alexander and Natalie Fulco, Vincenzo, Nico and Lexie Bufalino, and three great grandchildren, Jayden, Skylar and Leif. Maria was a talented seamstress who spent the majority of her 30 year career at American Bazaar in New Britain. Her greatest joy was when she was surrounded by her family and friends, cooking, baking and playing cards. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of nurses and aids at Maple View Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Hill for the loving care and kindness they provided Maria in the last year and the services of Constellation Hospice for their service in the last month. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 9AM from the New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Joachim Parish, Church of St. Ann, 101 North St., burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, all in New Britain. Calling hours at the funeral home, will be Monday, May 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
