Maria Destin, 55, of New Britain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving and devoted family, after a valiant fight against cancer on April 2, 2019. She was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Raphael Correa Velasquez and Adoracion Correa Colon. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of St. Joachim Parish in New Britain. She cherished her family and any time she spent with them, family was everything to her. She was an amazing cook, a lover of people, outgoing and engaging with all she met. “She was the best mom and grandma”, with the “best laugh” and “loved her hugs”. Things she will be remembered for saying, “I love you so much” and “did you eat”. She was an amazing homemaker and enjoyed crossword puzzles and reality TV. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband Gerard Destin, her devoted and treasured children, Melanie Valdes and Veronica Valdes, of New Britain and Bryan Destin and his wife Emily of New Britain, two sisters Elsa Correa and Narcisa Correa both of Hartford and her brother Crispin Correa of Hartford, three cherished grandchildren Xavier Hernandez, Vanessa Rodriguez and Jonathan Rojas and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:30AM from the New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial 12:30PM in St. Mary Church of the St. Joachim Parish, 544 Main Street, New Britain, burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2PM-5PM.
