Born in Abadan, Iran, Masood came to the United States in 1977 to attend the University of Hartford. While playing on the university’s soccer team, he met his future wife, Donna. Their romance turned into 45 beautiful years of marriage.
After graduating, Masood began his professional career at Anderson Laboratories and later joined Phonon Corp, where he served as technician, Manufacturing Manager, and Vice President of Manufacturing. He approached his work with integrity, dedication, and pride, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Masood had a lifelong love of soccer, playing for over 50 years. He was selected All New England while at the University of Hartford and played for local teams including Hartford United and the New Britain Stars. He made many lasting friendships along the way.
Yet for all his accomplishments, Masood’s true passion was his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than gathering everyone around the table for one of his home-cooked meals. The house would be filled with the aroma of his cooking, the sound of laughter, and a soccer match playing on the television. Those lively dinners were not just meals — they were expressions of his love.
He adored his four grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Whether taking them to the park, inventing new games, or simply sitting and talking with them, he treasured every moment spent together. His love for them was immeasurable, and they will forever carry his humor and warmth.
Masood is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his daughters, Leila Cancellieri (Marco), Mina Careswell (Josh), Dr. Ladan Karimian (Mat Jobin); and his son, Saeed Karimian (Ashley Caine). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Matteo and Giulietta Cancellieri, and Max and Elia Careswell. He is also survived by his brothers, Mansour Karimian (Adele) and Reza Karimian (Carol); his sisters Zahra Karimian, Sedigheh Namazifard (Mohammad) and Fatemeh Shourideh (Abdullah); and many extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mobarak and Bibi Karimian and his in-laws Francis and Bruna Badon.
Masood will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generous heart, his love of soccer, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
