

He was the oldest son of the late Nicholas and Lucia Foligno of New Britain. He attended local schools and served during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp from April 1943 to June 1946. He was a lifelong member of St. Ann Church as well as a member of Teamsters Local 671. He was married to Anne (Majka) Foligno from 1953 until her death in 1987. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Kathy Gabes of Southington. He was employed as a truck driver for 6 years at Hartford Transportation, then for Holmes Transportation of Newington, retiring from there in 1984. He and his late wife Anne also ran a part-time catering business for many years. He enjoyed cooking, baking, horseracing, handyman work, UConn Husky Basketball and spending time with his family.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss and celebrate his life, his only beloved daughter, Michele (Foligno) Shea and her husband Michael of Rocky Hill. He is also survived by a brother Frank Foligno and wife, Josephine of Bristol, brother Thomas Foligno and wife Jean of Southington, a sister Annette Matera of Rocky Hill, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his brothers, Dominick and Paul Foligno and his sisters Angie Koboski, Lillian Motto, Rose Bongiorno and Kay DeBonee.
Funeral services will begin Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 9:00am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Ann Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 from 3-6pm at the funeral home.
