Neftali Sanchez, 71, of New Britain passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 22, 2018. He was born in Aricebo, Puerto Rico on January 24, 1947, son of the late Mario and Catalina (Negron) Corderro. He leaves behind his cherished love and mother of his children of 44 years, Miriam Fernandez, his two sons; Edgar Alicea of New York, and Harry Alicea of New Britain, Grandchildren; Elias and Kaylynn Marie Alicea, His brother; Cristobal Sanchez of Puerto Rico, several nieces and nephews and cousins and many dear friends. Besides his parents Neftali was predeceased by several brothers and a sister. Neftali was a “Family Man” his boys remember him being an amazing father and an excellent provider, teaching them the importance of hard work and love of family. His children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces knew that when he would rattle his pocket that was full of change they would be rewarded with his gift of a pocket full of money for them. For 40 years Neftali drove a dumpster truck for the New York Housing Authority and worked as a supervisor over the General Maintenance department to which his boys thought was super cool, he also played softball every Sunday for the Millbrook team through work and even though he had a wrist injury that caused him to bat “backwards” he was still known to knock the ball out of the park on several occasions. He was an avid Yankee fan, enjoyed playing Dominoes, and loved telling jokes. His boys will always remember him as being very strong, very happy and a joker always making people laugh, and having a smile that would light up any room. Neftali will be dearly missed.
