

Olympia Flaminio, 78, beloved wife of Vincent Flaminio of 56 years, passed away unexpectedly at her home in New Britain on Sunday, June 29, 2014. She was born in Naples, Italy. She was the daughter of Gennaro and Rafella Candela. She learned to be a seamstress in her beloved Naples and brought that art and talent to the United States in 1960. She worked in many sewing factories before opening her own bridal shop in 1985 called Olympia’s Bridal. She was a wonderful cook and an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Vincent; son, Frank; daughters, Tina Forrest and her husband Michael, and their two children, Erica and Michael Vincent, as well as her daughter, Sandra Shaw, and her husband, Darryl and their children, Darryl Jr. and Krista. She also leaves her brother, Vincenzo and his wife, Nina, and Antonio Candela and his wife, Antonietta, along with their families. Also, she leaves her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Rosetta Flaminio, as well as Giuseppe and Carmela Flaminio; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, Mario and Salvatore Candela.
Funeral services will begin Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 9 a.m., from New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by her Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m., in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Entombment will conclude in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
