Ray is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce (Pelletier) Gorcyca, and by his brother, John Gorcyca and his wife Jane of Bristol. Also left to mourn are his sister-in—law Sheila (Pelletier) Bever of Plattsburgh, New York, brother-in-law Kenneth Raymond of Bristol, and beloved foster dog Teddy.
Ray was born on April 19, 1951 in New Britain, Connecticut to John and Anna (Rurka) Gorcyca. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1970. He and Joyce were married in 1977. Ray was employed for many years by RAE Battery of Berlin and considered the owner, Roy Earley, not only a boss but a friend, who helped him through many difficult times in his life.
Ray was a kind and patient person, good at fixing all manner of things, and could always be counted on to lend a hand when needed. He was a big fan of professional wrestling, a dedicated recorder of family events, and a loyal friend. He was looking forward to retirement in the Adirondacks area of northern New York state a few years from now, but God had other plans.
A memorial service is scheduled for November 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM.
