Richard Koluch

Richard J. Koluch, 64, of New Britain, lost his courageous battle to lung cancer on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at New Britain General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Zdonia, Poland, son of the late Karol and Stefania (Tokarz) Majewski and was later adopted by Josephine and Frank Koluch. He loved spending time in Maine fishing and loved being with his family and always wanted them by his side. Throughout his 2 ½ year struggle, Richard was an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with as he fought with bravery, a constant smile and a great sense of humor. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Richard worked as a Machinist at Pratt & Whitney. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Regina (Janusek) Koluch, his daughters Julie Koldras and her husband Paul of Newington and Debra Kasper and her husband Joseph of Franklin, MA, three brothers Steven Tokarz and his wife Barbara, Walter Tokarz and his wife Boguslawa, Christopher Koluch and his wife Krystyna and his brother in law Stanley Wypasek all of Rhode Island, his mother and father in law Walter and Helena Janusek of New Britain and his sisters in law, Christina Syntlo and her husband Paul, Diane Frankowski and her husband Michael and Halina Macniak and her husband Zbigniew, five grandchildren Stephanie, Joey, Timmy, Lauren and Michael and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Zenobia Wypasek. Funeral services will be Saturday November 27, 2010 at 8:30Am from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial 9:30AM in Sacred Heart Church, Broad Street, committal services will take place at the Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, all in New Britain. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday November 26th from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers the family desires monetary donations to enable them to purchase gifts for local children that are afflicted with cancer.
