He practiced ophthalmology for 34 years in New Britain, first at Grove Hill Clinic and then in private practice with Ijaz Shafi, M.D. Next to his family, Bob loved his patients and was justly proud of the care he rendered. He always took the time to listen, empathize, and treat everyone with the utmost respect. He was highly regarded and beloved by his patients and colleagues alike. He was a devoted husband, loving and involved father to four, and the best “Poppy” to 12 precious grandchildren. He cherished spending time with his family and especially treasured summers in Groton Long Point, CT. He saw only the best in others, and his wit and laughter will be missed by all. His religion was very important to him and he was a communicant at the Church of St. Patrick. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his children Robert (Mia), Karen (Donald), Susan (Philip), and David (Megan); his brothers Carmen and Ronald Cosentino and his sister Eldita Loredo; his grandchildren Jake, Shane, Eve, Zoe, Maya, Benjamin, Charlie, Sarah, Kate, Henry, Clare, and Colton; and his many special nieces and nephews.
