Salvatore Germano, 92, of Newington and formerly of New Britain, beloved husband of 68 years to Carmela (Campisi) Germano, was peacefully called to eternal life surrounded by the love of his family on November 8th, 2018. Born January 6th, 1926 in Solarino, Sicily, he was the son of the late Antonino and Giovanna (Lonero) Germano. Salvatore and his family emigrated to the United States in 1970 where they settled in New Britain to live the “American Dream,” and then went on to work for Modern Woodworking. He was a very humble, talented, hard-working and skilled craftsman who enjoyed gardening and building furniture. The most important thing Salvatore loved was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will always be remembered. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Giovanna, son Antonino, sister Concettina Liistro and her husband Giuseppe, brother Francesco Germano and his wife Concettina and sister-in-law Ninetta Germano. Left to honor and cherish his memory are daughters; Giovanna Giannone and her husband, Salvatore of Farmington, Concetta Giannone and her husband, Antonio of Berlin, Lucia Germano of Berlin, Antonella Germano of Newington; and son, Antonino Germano and his wife, Kathy of New Britain; twelve grandchildren, Enza Giannone-Hosig and her husband, Benjamin; Melinda Kelleher and her husband, Dennis; Danny Giannone and his wife, Violet; Marilena, Marco and Juliana Giannone; Amanda and Loriana Scordino; Peter and Fabrizio Bafumi; Victoria and Salvatore Germano; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends. Salvatore also leaves behind two brothers, Paolo Germano and wife, Maria of Sicily, and Joseph Germano of Australia; one sister, Paola Puglisi, and husband Giuseppe of Sicily. The family would like to express a special thank you and most heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Newington Rapid Recovery Rehab Center: Alsation Unit for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 9AM from the New Britain Memorial -Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Ann Church 101 North St. New Britain. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
