Sebastiano Germano

Sebastiano ‘Nello’ Germano, 80, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Hospital of Central CT. Nello was born on January 20, 1934 in Solarino, Sicily, Italy and was son to the late Paolo and Giuseppina (Gibilisco) Germano. He started the Germano Fence Company in 1969 and operated it with his brother who predeceased him, Concetto ‘Jack’ Germano for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1997.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his three sons; Paul R. Germano, Robert S. Germano and Nello J. Germano and his wife, Caragh, all of Newington, his four grandchildren: Gino, Julia, Brianna, Michael Germano and his step grandson, Zachary Breglia, his compassionate friend & former wife, Ruth Germano of Newington and many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Nello will be remembered for his smile and charismatic ways, including the fun he always put into everything he did, making the moment memorable. He was an avid soccer enthusiast and was very active in his social club, the General Ameglio Civic Association in New Britain, where he will be missed. He was a loving father, devoted to his family, always there when needed.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 9AM from New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10AM in St. Ann Church. Burial will conclude in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 from 4-8pm at the funeral home.
