Steven Paul Zaleski 57, formerly of Farmington and living in Wallingford passed away unexpectedly on Thursday March 31st, 2016 at Midstate Medical Center.
He was the son of Joseph and Dorothy Zaleski. He was born in New Britain, CT and attended Holy Cross and St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he played soccer and began a lifelong love-hate relationship with working on cars. A classic term for a classic guy, he referred to himself as a 'gearhead' and was also a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He attended Central CT State College briefly, was self employed as a contractor and was a true jack of all trades, he was in business for himself for 38 years, when he wasn't working for his father's company Zaleski Snow Guards as President and most recently Treasurer. He was formerly employed by Bridgeport Restoration.
Steven was an amazing cook and shared his love of food with everyone, he loved to feed people and felt that "coming together to eat at the table is what keeps people together". He was health conscious, read food labels, was organic, all natural and hated GMO's long before it became trendy, he loved to garden, grow his own food, and had fresh eggs from his chickens and organic honey from his own beehives. He was honest, hard-working and lived life on his own terms. Most recently he attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Wallingford where he resides.
He leaves to mourn his loss his parents (Joe and Dorothy), his only beloved daughter Cynthia Marie Zaleski, along with her mother Lydia Rostkowski and his long time companion Graciela Pacino and her family whom he made his home with in Wallingford. He is also survived by his brothers Jay Zaleski and Alan Zaleski of New Britain, and was pre-deceased by his brother Daniel Zaleski and his 'Gram' Marie Polaske.
He also leaves his lifelong friends whom he considered his brothers and with whom he spent many happy occasions with: The Wasiks; John and Nancy, Tom and Laurie, Henry and Sue, Michael and their sister Carol along with all of their children, the Levesque family: Claudia, Josh and Jennalee. The Doyon's and his very good friend Ricky Amenta. Thank you all for being there for him throughout his life and especially these last few months.
