Ursula Paula Violette

Born February 3rd, 1933, she was the eldest daughter of the late John and Antoinette Babin of Caribou, ME.

"Honsey", as she was affectionately called, attended school up to the fifth grade, leaving school to help raise her eleven siblings after the untimely death of her father at the age of 43.

She married Ronald Violette in October 1951 and moved to Connecticut. She began her career as a piece worker, eventually working her way up to expeditor at American Hardware (later acquired by Black & Decker). She was also the Recording Secretary & Treasurer for Local 376 Auto Workers VAW for several years before retiring in 1995 with 36 years' experience.

Honsey devoted her life to helping others. First sending money home to Caribou to relocate her mother & siblings to Connecticut and help to get them work. She also took countless people into her home in difficult times. She was a ferocious reader, reading two to three books per week. What she lacked in formal education she made up for in self-education. She was an avid cook and found tremendous joy cooking meals for others. She was affectionately called the "Soup Nazi" because she made a huge pot of soup every Saturday and then proceeded to give it away to elderly neighbors or someone recovering from illness.

When she was younger, she was an avid golfer and duck pin bowler. After retirement she kept busy raising her grandchildren as well as volunteering for several organizations. She ran the thrift store at St. Jerome's church, cooked in the kitchen on bingo nights, and ran the "Coffee and..." meetings every Sunday after church. She volunteered twice a week to cook lunch for the children at St. Matthew's school until it closed.

She is survived by her three children; Denise Gaszek and her husband Bernie of Berlin, Tom Violette of Bristol, and Lauren Gallagher of New Britain, six grandchildren; Kayle, Ashlyn, Adam, Michele, Kelley & Christopher, and eight great-grandchildren; Dylan, Peyton, Mayari, Tyler, Kennedy, Carter, Andi Rae & Eli Jane. She also leaves behind her brother Mack Babin of New Britain, two sisters; Diane Albert & her husband Camille of Plainville, and Faith Franck & her husband Bert of Plainville, as well as several nieces and nephews, especially Roland and Sharon Babin with whom she had a very special relationship.

She will be deeply missed by everyone.

She was predeceased by five brothers; Jack, Paul, Tom, Leo & Michael Babin, and three sisters; Elaine Cansdale, Barbara Chasse & Kathleen Michaud-Manning.

Funeral services will be held on August 27, 2026, at 10:30 am at St. Francis Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. A Celebration of Life luncheon will immediately follow at Luna's Banquet Hall at 164 Central Street, Bristol, CT at noon.

There will be no calling hours, and burial services will be held at a later date.
