Valerie Sarnacki

Valerie (Choinski) Sarnacki, 65, of New Britain, beloved wife of George Sarnacki passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026. Born on October 4, 1960 in New Britain, was the daughter of late Henry and Clara (Chrzanowski) Choinski and late brother, Thomas Choinski. In addition to her husband of 45 years, Valerie leaves behind her beloved children, Laurie Guerrieri and her husband Santo and Daniel Sarnacki and his wife Christine.

She also leaves her brothers George Choinski and his wife Kristine, Henry Choinski Jr. and his wife Ann Marie, and Robert Choinski and his wife Chris. Valerie leaves extended family in Germany, Henryk and Riet Schreder, Daniel, and Mario with their families. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Niko and Ava. In addition, she leaves several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Valerie was a strong, hardworking, caring, and creative woman. She was a florist in the earlier part of her life and that’s where she began her love for flowers from the stargazer lily, gardenia, to poinsettias and we can’t forget the roses. Her creative side shined through her many floral arrangements she would create for her parents for each holiday. Easter time you would walk into the house and smell her hyacinths next to her blessed Easter basket. Every year she would take pride in putting together her basket to be blessed at church.

She worked many years at The American Red Cross beginning in the laboratory and then moving into the position of Apheresis Recruitment. Valerie would set up appointments for donors to come in and donate platelets. Maybe you even received a call from her. She cared for her donors as if they were part of her family, because she knew they were important in saving the lives of others, especially for cancer patients. She had a way of making people feel special.

When Valerie wasn’t working, she enjoyed sitting on the deck with her dog Onyx and a cup of coffee, taking trips to the shore with her daughter, and having Sunday dinners with her husband, Laurie, and Santo. Spending time with her family was very important to her. In the Fall she would check out the pumpkins with her granddaughter and grandson. Danny loved watching her as Grandma. Valerie also loved to make things. She would cross stitch, crochet, and her new project was diamond painting. You might have a few that she has gifted.

Valerie loved Christmas and the winter snow. She would watch every new Hallmark Christmas movie and plan her traditional trip with her daughter to get the new Hallmark Christmas ornaments in July. She loved pulling out the Christmas recipes that were handed down to her by her mother. You would find her in the kitchen baking Christmas cookies. If we get a lot of snow this year, know it’s from her.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 9:15 AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, to Holy Cross Church, 31 Biruta St., New Britain, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.

Calling hours will be Friday, July 24th from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
