Wanda “Babci” Ejdys, 82 of Unionville, CT died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 2, 2019, after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the daughter of the late Jean and Felicie Moryl of France.
Wanda was born December 2, 1936 in Biskupice, Poland, moved to Paris, France at the age of nine, and continued her education by attending the University of Cambridge in England to pursue her degree in English and study business. In 1959, she met her beloved husband Chester in a church choir in Paris. Her honeymoon was a trip to the USA where she lived the past 59 years. Before moving to CT in 1969, she worked on Wall Street and lived in Brooklyn and Binghamton, NY. Prior to her retirement in 2002, she was an accounting manager for TRUMPF Inc. in Farmington, CT for over 30 years.
Wanda was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, a member of the Polonia Paderewski Choir and New Britain Ladies Guild. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, music, dancing and theater, where she was a member of the Goodspeed Opera House for over 30 years. She also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren who will miss their “Babci” very much. She attended every soccer game, regatta, concert and school ceremonies. She exposed them to culture, food and etiquette. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was a very active part of their life.
Wanda loved to travel throughout the USA and Europe with her brother Richard and his wife Alice. Her passion was cooking and entertaining. She had a refined taste in food and was known for her legendary dinner presentations.
Wanda was a steward of her faith and volunteered her time to Holy Cross Church and Sacred Heart Church bazaars, spending countless hours making potato pancakes and babkas. She also volunteered her time to the Polish community and translated for them to help them chose affordable healthcare. Finally, she continued with her love of accounting and prepared taxes for family and friends.
Wanda was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Chester Ejdys. She leaves her devoted daughter, Christine Lagosz and her husband John of Farmington; her beloved son Daniel Ejdys and his wife Gretchen of Cape Coral, FL as well as six grandchildren she adored, Christopher, Gregory and Natalie Lagosz; Madeleine, Timothy and Rush Ejdys. She is also survived by her loving brother Richard Moryl and wife Alice, niece and nephew, Ingrid and Philippe and several cousins.
Wanda was also grateful for her many, many friends, especially her “sisters” Viviane, Jadzia, Roma, Wanda and Sheryle. Thank you for all those friends who have made daily visits, bringing positive energy, prayers and delicious food and special drinks which made her illness a little more comfortable.
